An epic ending to another exciting journey through the world of middle earth. Director Peter Jackson, who helmed The Lord of The Rings trilogy saga in the early 2000s, brings his special touch to another J.R.R. Tolkien treasure.
After diving into young Bilbos’ journey with Gandalf and Thorin to reclaim the dwarf homeland from the dragon Smaug (The Terrible), Jackson seeks to close another trilogy with a bang. In my opinion, he certainly did that in this film, which in summation is one gigantic climax, with a few strong enough emotional moments to bring it all together.
Considering that a chunk of story was covered in the first two films, it’s only fitting that the movie goes into all out war mode in the prelude to the next battle for middle earth. I rate this one a solid 3.5 stars.
