“Hey, you wanna hear the most annoying sound in the world?”
It’s the sound of a sequel to a classic that shouldn’t have been made or at least got made almost 20 years too late.
From the famous comedy filmmaking Farrelly Brothers (Dumb and Dumber, Kingpin, There’s Something About Mary and Me Myself and Irene), and starring the dynamic duo of Jeff Daniels and Jim Carrey, comes a sequel that we didn’t deserve but got anyways.
After twenty long years, Harry Dunne and Lloyd Christmas go on another whirlwind adventure of stupid proportions after Harry finds out that he has a long lost daughter whom he needs to find in hopes that she will help him. What follows is another random rip roaring time that doesn’t even measure up to the original.
Maybe it’s because too much time has passed or maybe the Farrelly brothers lost the ability to make funny and semi mindless comedies that could appeal to the masses. Who knows, but I can say without a doubt this fell flat on its face with a thud and not even using recycled jokes and humor from the 90s could save it. However there were a very few funny bright spots and Harry and Lloyd being back together again was a plus. (And no, that one really bad prequel doesn’t count we’re pretending it didn’t happen.) I give this one a very generous 2 stars.
